Automotive vehicles manufactured after 1996 are all equipped with some degree of On-Board Diagnostic (OBD2) capability. If you own a vehicle produced prior to that date, troubleshooting issues can be challenging, and critical system failures are often identified too late.
Here at Classic Auto Diagnostics, we believe in preserving the classic nature of older vehicles while embedding the diagnostic capability of modern technology. We were determined to develop a method of monitoring essential operating parameters of non-OBD vehicles without modifying the original ECU.
At its core, our solution provides visibility of various system components either locally via a 5- or 7-inch touch screen, modern OBD app, or anywhere in the world through our cloud service subscription.
System parameter thresholds can be manually set, or automatically learned during a spirited driving session. Once set, any deviations can be logged locally to an on-board SD card with the driver alerted either visually or audibly.
Snapshots can be taken where all system parameters at a given point in time are logged to the SD card. These can be configured to be taken either at a given cadence, upon an alarm condition, or when a combination of up to three thresholds have been exceeded.
Onboard GPS permits vehicle tracking and visibility of other generic GNSS data. Minimum number of acquired satellites can be set to ensure accurate data is used for speed readings (when sent to factory speedometer)
Any changes in the vehicle's horizontal rest angle, or detection of GPS speed while ignition is off will result in an SMS alert and immediate upload of GPS coordinates.
Native ELM/OBD emulator provides real-time wireless monitoring using "Torque" or "Car Scanner" off the shelf apps. A combination of generic ISO15764 and custom PIDs are supported, along with the ability to view and erase logged DTC's
Cellular capability permits the upload of all parameters (every two seconds) to a cloud-based database for either real-time viewing or historical reference. Statistical analysis can be performed to identify historical trends, potentially identifying anomalous behavior that may not be immediately evident.
Low power consumption (< 10mA sleep mode will not result in any material difference to battery drain.
Road and engine speed can either be passively monitored, or intercepted, translated and sent back to the original speedometer or tachometer. If your wheel circumference, or engine firing (4,6,8 cylinder) has changed, entering an offset and translating the input will ensure correct speed is shown using the factory displays.
GPS speed can also be used as an input for redirection to the native speedometer. In addition, a test signal can be generated to assist in visual calibration.
3:1 voltage division (via DIP switch) for analog and digital sensors permit up to 15v on all voltage protected inputs.
0-400m and 0-100kmh timers
Imperial/metric support
Configurable settings allow use of either native, or aftermarket thermistors.
Flexible use of 3 wire pressure sensors with configurable pressure vs voltage.
Embedded 3-axis gyroscope enable force measurements up to 4g.
Translatable speed inputs
